Marie Antoinette

Regular price $6.00 Sale

The day after Marie Antoinette became queen of France, her husband gave her the Petit Trianon.

She was so pleased with the gift of this small chateau.  Here she could be herself, freed from the rigid etiquette of the court of Versailles and the sly, malicious whispers behind fluttering fans.

The Petit Trianon soon became her favorite place on earth.

When she decorated her new retreat, her core theme was nature. She chose beautifully sculpted molding and paneling, and the loveliest of furniture, all adorned with flowers, trees, and plants.

In this new home, she wanted to surround herself only with things that were beautiful.

Like this soap.

With its intricate design of a plant motif, our Marie Antoinette soap recalls a time when a lonely queen created a paradise our of the pretty things, so that everything she looked at delighted her.

Scented with some of the queen's favorite floral scents of orange blossom, honeysuckle, and lilac, the Marie Antoinette soap creates a paradise from the past, in your own bath.

History

She wanted the feeling of the Petit Trianon to be informal, warm, and welcoming.  In other words, she wanted it to feel like a home--her home.

The detail of this embroidery show the simple but beautiful flower motif for some of the furniture made for the Petit Trianon.
